Zhoushan attracts high-level talents from Hong Kong

Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province recently finished a series of recruitment and promotional activities in Hong Kong to attract local high-level talents urgently needed for the city's economic development, according to the human resources and social security department of Zhoushan. 

Twenty-six out of more than 130 candidates were interviewed, and 19 expressed willingness to work in Zhoushan. 

Earlier this month, Zhoushan listed 68 vacant jobs in a number of industrial fields, as well as education and medical care, which are in urgent need of high-caliber global talents.

"As a global hub for trade and finance, Hong Kong is an important source of international professionals for Zhoushan," said an official from the city's human resources and social security department. 

According to the official, Zhoushan attracted five global professionals through a job fair held in Hong Kong last year who have been playing a positive role in boosting the city's industrial growth. 

At this year's job fair in Hong Kong, Zhoushan offered seven positions in international trade, risk control, finance and global shipping services. The 26 qualified candidates all have master's degrees or above and 80 percent have overseas working experience.

Zhoushan signed a cooperation agreement with Hong Kong Polytechnic University at last year's job fair and received the first batch of students from the school, who started out at internships. 

This year, Zhoushan not only held its promotional activities at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, but also at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, attracting more than 150 students to attend. Over 20 signed up for internships in Zhoushan. 

In addition, Zhoushan agreed to deepen entrepreneurship cooperation with the latter, encouraging the school to carry out outstanding college entrepreneurship projects in the city.
