The first directional fast lane in Harbin, Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, will be put into use on March 30, in order to improve traffic efficiency in the city.

Directional fast lanes are lanes heading to a particular destination, usually on a motorway, and vehicles traveling on them must stay in the lane until they leave that section of the road. Other vehicles are prohibited from entering the lanes.

Since the driving destinations are in the same direction, the traffic flow is not affected by other vehicle lane changes, improving speed and efficiency.

The driveway is located at the rightmost lane of the west bridge of Songhua River Highway Bridge. The starting point is 350 meters south of Songbei Avenue and Taiyang Road, with "starting line of the directional lane" marked on the ground.

The lane terminates at the Xiaqiaokou of Youyi West Road, and the ground is marked with "the end of the directional lane".

At present, workers are putting the finishing touches to the lane to get it ready for traffic.
