Hangzhou to hold 5th digital reading conference

The Digital Reading Conference China 2019 will be held in April 12 in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, a news conference announced on March 27.

Focusing on the idea that e-reading can enhance people's lives, the three-day event is expected to see the attendance of around 1,500 government officials, experts from the publishing world, business leaders, writers and scholars.

An array of summits and interactive activities on different topics will take place during this year's event, covering publishing integration, online literature, artificial intelligence, financial literature, and extensive reading.

An exposition featuring digital reading development and technology will open to the public, displaying the latest achievements in the industry since the founding of the People's Republic of China 70 years ago.

A report, titled the "2018 Chinese Digital Reading White Paper" will also be released at the conference, along with announcements of the names of the top 10 digital works and projects of 2018 as well as the 10 cities with the most number of digital readers and highest number of reading activities for last year.

This year's event is co-hosted by the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association, publicity departments of Hangzhou and Zhejiang province.

The conference is dedicated to building up platforms for communication between the government, industry and readers, to promote digital reading and the fusion of paper and digital publishing.

Hundreds of volunteers will be on hand to offer their assistance, and services, including shuttle buses to and from the conference and live streaming of the events, are expected to be available.
