"Taohua Island has good overall facilities for tourism. We will focus on providing two-day visits for tourists, and I believe there will be a surge in the number of visitors from Suzhou to the island in the future," said Wang Yongbin, general manager of an international tourist agency in Suzhou, Jiangsu province.
More than 400 directors of tourist agencies in Jiangsu province recently visited the island to explore and promote it to their clients, with half the number coming from the cities of Suzhou and Nantong cities traveling there from March 21 to 22 and the other half coming from the cities of Wuxi and Changzhou from March 23 to 24.
Taohua Island is a beautiful scenic spot in Zhoushan, which is portrayed in the novels of the famous late Hong Kong martial arts novelist Louis Cha Leung-yung, who was better known by his pen name Jin Yong.

"The reputation of the island has been increasing over the past two decades," said Lin Min, administrative chief of Taohua town, "but visitors mainly come from within Zhejiang province. This is the first time that Taohua island has been promoted among visitors from another province."
"We hope more visitors from Jiangsu will be attracted to the island, so that tourism in the island and its neighboring islands will be boosted," said Lin.
The local authorities will further promote the island to Shanghai residents in the future, according to Lin.
