Intelligent health checks available for Hangzhou shoppers

Shoppers in Jianggan district of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province can now get a quick health check whilst they do their shopping, thanks to the launch of an intelligent health consulting platform in a local shopping mall in the district, local media reported on March 25.

The less-than-10-square-meters platform, which is available for 24 hours per day, is composed of three functional areas including inspection, convenience and emergency, offering users the services of weight measurement, blood pressure and waist measurements, an intelligent health consultation, and a medicine cabinet.

Users who swipe their ID cards and operate the platform as required will be able to get their diagnosing reports such as weight, blood pressure, and blood oxygen from the system.

Users can also receive electrocardiogram analysis services and obtain an automated external defibrillator by following the audio instructions.

All the patient information collected by the system will be transferred to their contracted doctors to help them understand the patient's physical condition and drug usage, said Hu Junfeng, a medical official from the district.

At present, Jianggan district is equipped with eight community service centers and 58 community health service stations with only 233,000 contracted doctors, according to Hu, adding that the medical resources of Jianggan is falling short of the increasing needs of local residents, and that the new intelligent health consulting platform will help to alleviate some of this pressure.

It is hoped that the platform will form part of improved health management services for residents, who can receive a quick and convenient health check without suffering the inconvenience of having to visit the doctor.

It is expected that 100 such intelligent health platforms will be built within three years, said Hu.
