The launch ceremony and 1st annual academic conference of the Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Specialized Committee of the Chinese Non-Government Medical Institutions Association was held in Zhanjiang on March 23. Over 200 experts, scholars, and clinicians from across the country attended.

Statistics show that there are now 20,404 non-government hospitals in China, accounting for 64 percent of the country's total. Only 800 domestic hospitals, most of which are state-funded, have a nuclear medicine and molecular imaging department. The discipline is still in its early stages.

The establishment of the special committee is expected to lead to the integration of high-quality nuclear medicine and molecular imaging resources, which will be passed down to non-government medical institutions. This will be made possible through research, the formulation of industrial standards, and training sessions.
