Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, has taken the second place in a ranking of national civilized cities at 94.35 score for 2018, followed by Xiamen in Fujian province and Qingdao in Shandong province, local media reported on March 20.

The ranking values 28 provincial capitals, along with sub-provincial cities in the country.

Jinan city in Shandong province tops the rankings.

Hangzhou was listed in the third batch of national civilized cities in 2011.

The National Civilized City award, evaluated every three years, represents the highest honor to a city as it has strict standards for a variety of aspects including the city's overall economic strength, social civilization, infrastructure construction, public services and people's well-being. It is also the most valuable among all city honors in China.

Taking the 2022 Asian Games as an opportunity, Hangzhou will further enhance lives of its citizens, and improve the services of volunteers so as to present to the world a projection of an open, modern and civilized city with unique charm.
