Dongsheng district in the city of Ordos, located in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, plans to add 5,000 more new energy vehicle charger piles by the end of 2020 – in the wake of increasing numbers of increasing numbers of electric vehicles coming to Ordos, according to a recent local media report.

At the beginning of this year, a new charger pile station was established in Dongsheng to meet the needs of electric vehicle owners.

That sparked calls from some residents to have more piles installed.

“It is environmentally friendly and cost effective,” said He Chunyan, an electric vehicle owner, in an interview.

“It would be better if more charger piles are available in my residential community.”

In order to meet the demand for charger piles, Dongsheng has already initiated a program for producing more.

A 250 million yuan ($37.22 million) charger pile construction project has been launched at Ordos Equipment Manufacturing Base, and the project has won a great deal of support from the district government, said Cao Zhe, manager of the marketing department of Dongchang Energy Group, a company responsible for the project.

“We will build more than 5,000 charge piles by the end of 2020,” Cao added.
