Bird Island

Bird Island is currently the only natural ecological bird watching center in Shenyang, Liaoning province. It is also called Ganhezi Island, located inside Qipan Mountain Scenic Area.

An island in the Hunhe River covering 49.26 hectares, Bird Island has rich natural vegetation and at different times of the day, the island's forests, shrubs, wetlands, and ponds provide vastly different views to visitors.

The birds inhabiting the island mainly cover four species: cursorial, natatorial, wading, and singing birds. Red-crowned cranes, black swans, white swans, peacocks, vultures, egrets, emberiza elegans, mandarin ducks, cormorants, grey cranes, macaws, silver pheasants, black-headed gulls, bar-headed gooses, as well as ostriches are included. At times, groups of birds such as peacocks, black swans, white swans, and sea gulls will hover overhead, forming a breathtaking landscape on the island.
