Presentation of Guangdong-HongKong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Plan held in Hong Kong

The presentation of Guangdong-HongKong-Macao Development Plan jointly organized by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and Macao Special Administrative Region Government was held in Hong Kong on Feb 21.

The Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, said that Hong Kong enjoys an unique dual advantage under the policy of "one country, two systems". Hong Kong is a highly open and international city with an open and convenient business environment and quality professional services.

Hong Kong can combine these advantages with the vast market, complete industrial system and strong scientific and technological strength of the nine cities in the Greater Bay Area.

She stressed that the future priorities of the HK SAR Government include: consolidating and upgrading the status of Hong Kong's international finance, shipping, trade centers and international aviation hubs; building an international science and technology innovation center; exploring development space for the advantageous industries; strengthening urban connectivity in the Greater Bay Area; promoting youth innovation and entrepreneurship; making full use of Hong Kong's international contacts and international network to promote Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area overseas, attracting capital and talents to settle here.

Ma Xingrui, governor of Guangdong Province, pointed out that as the next step, Guangdong will carefully learn from the construction experience of the world-class bay area in accordance with the strategic orientation proposed by the planning outline, and promote the construction of Greater Bay Area with high starting point, high standard and high quality.

The Chief Executive of Macao SAR, Fernando Chui, pointed out that the Macao SAR will adhere to the "two-legged”way of upgrading its capabilities and strengthening regional cooperation as an important path to achieve sustainable development; it will continue to play a leading role and promote the common development of the Bay Area.

Nearly 800 people from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and relevant departments attended the presentation.
