Improve infrastructure for integrative development

Wuxi held a thematic meeting on major infrastructure construction for the integrative development of Wuxi, Jiangyin and Yixing on Feb 20, summarizing previous works and making plans for the next steps.

Party Secretary of Wuxi city Li Xiaomin confirmed the achievements of infrastructure construction for the integration. The government has prioritized it and accelerated the implementation of landmark projects, such as the Yima Fast Track, which started construction on Jan 2 and Line S1 which will be initiated this year. Other major expressway and railway infrastructure projects that can strengthen contact between the three regions are also under construction to make the vision of a "one-hour commuting circle" between the Wuxi urban area, Jiangyin and Yixing come true.

Li also recommended methods to deal with problems during the implementation process. Plans should be made at an early stage to facilitate the major infrastructure projects that can bring great social and economic benefit and have a strong influence. Communications should be strengthened with superior departments in charge of planning, development and reform, and transportation, as well as with nearby cities to coordinate with the integrative development plans of the Yangtze River region and the Shanghai metropolitan area. Relevant departments should make more efforts to strictly carry out the plans of major infrastructure projects to support the integrative development of Wuxi, Jiangyin and Yixing.
