Guilin Solitary Beauty Peak·Prince City Scenic Area is located in the center of Guilin, China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. It is a top tourist destination centered on Solitary Beauty Peak -- "King of Mountains" and the scope of Ming's Jingjiang Seignior Mansion.
The scenic area reflects three major historical and cultural systems of Guilin. It is a typical representative of Guilin's history and culture.
The Jingjiang Prince Mansion was built in the Ming dynasty (BC 1372), 34 years prior to the Forbidden city in Beijing. The Prince City which was the relics of remains from 600 years ago was the best preserved Princes' city of Ming Dynasty in China.
The rectangle Prince City was built with local lime stones. It is over 500 meters long from south to north and 250 meters from west to east. The front gate "Duanli" is 5.5 meters high; the other three gates are Tiren Gate, Zhuyi Gate and Guangzhi Gate. The prince city enjoys the fame of "The best prince city in southern China".
The Solitary Beauty Peak is known as "Southern Sky Pillar". It has been called the No 1 peak of Guilin in history. Surrounded by numerous hills, the peak stands solitarily and defiantly with lordliness. Tourists can reach the top of the peak by clambering 306 stone stairs. It is the best panoramic viewing platform where tourists can get the best bird's-eye view of Guilin.
In 1996, the scenic area was listed as a historical and cultural relic under key protection of the state. Now it is a national 5A level tourist attraction.
