Population: 144,000 (7.8 percent are Ewenki people)

Ewenki means "people living in mountains" in the local language. The group has its own language and its history can be dated back to 2000 BC. Reindeer used to be the group's only means of transport.

Recommended Tourist Attractions

1.      Bayanhushuo Tourist Attraction 巴彦呼硕旅游区

A must-see spot for lovers at Banyanhushuo Tourist Attraction [Photo/ewenke.gov.cn]

Bayanhushuo Tourist Attraction is a national 3A-rated tourist attraction established in 1989, highlighting grassland scenery. It is 39 km from Hulunbuir's airport.

Famous for the story of "dating at Aobao Festival", it is a must-visit place for lovers. The story is about young girls and boys dating after the Aobao Festival which is annually held in June and July.

By August 2018, the tourist attraction had received 35,246 visitors, generating revenues of 1.23 million yuan ($181, 918).

2.      Honghua'erji Forest Park红花尔基森林公园

Built in 2000, Honghua'erji Forest Park is a 4A-rated tourist attraction integrating entertainment, tourism, camping and hunting. The large-scale planting of scot pines is a highlight of the park.

3.      Ewenki Deren tribe 鄂温克德仁部落

The Ewenki Deren tribe is located deep in the grasslands, about 136 km from the banner. Visitors can experience the tribe's old-style grassland life there. Galloping horses and grazing cattle and sheep can be seen everywhere.
