A delegation from the Hanggin Ulan Muqir art troupe in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, went to Thailand on Feb 1, to perform for local audiences.

Invited by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand National Tourism Administration and Bangkok government, and approved by China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the 21-member troupe stayed in Thailand until Feb 9.

The performance turned out to be a great success, receiving much praise from local audiences.

“We never expected that a traditional Mongolian performance would be so popular here”, said a troupe member named Naren as reported by China News.

The art troupe gave four performances, each of which drew more than 5,000 audience members, according to Naren.

After watching the bowling dance given by the troupe, Thai Princess Sirindhorn expressed her acclaims for the performance, saying the bowling dance showcased the beauty, elegance and grace of Chinese women.

The performance in Thailand represents a milestone for Ordos culture in going global, said Xing Chunsheng, deputy director of the department of culture in Hanggin Banner, during an interview.
