Xushuguan Economic and Technological Development Zone, located in Suzhou city, Jiangsu province, was set up in September 1992 and became a provincial-level development zone approved by the Jiangsu government in December 1993.
In 2013, the zone was upgraded to national level with the approval of the State Council.
The zone's industrial structure has developed from chemicals and building materials into a comprehensive one integrating five pillar industries: precision machinery, new building materials, electronic information, fine chemical engineering, and logistics and warehousing.
In 2017, the zone's total import and export volume reached 20.54 billion yuan ($3 billion), taking the lead among all 211 national-level economic and technological development zones in the country.
