Key industries maintain rapid growth in Gangzha

Gangzha district in Nantong saw strong returns from their commitment to developing modern industrial clusters featuring electronic information, smart equipment, modern logistics, and tourism industries in 2018.

The local electronic information industry chain gradually expanded last year with more than 10 upstream and downstream companies in the integrated circuit and smart driving sectors having been introduced, and four companies awarded Nantong's top 10 IT new technology enterprises.

The smart equipment industry maintained steady expansion in 2018 with the output value reaching 6 billion yuan ($888.51 million), a year-on-year increase of 20 percent. Several smart equipment companies based in the district reached significant achievements in 2018.

For example, the main structures of Jiangsu Masada Heavy Industries Co, which is authorized by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group and focuses on ship equipment manufacturing, were completed. Nantong CIMC Tank Equipment Co won the national manufacturing champion award for its liquid transport container and Nantong Rainbow Heavy Machineries Co was lauded as a provincial industrial design center.

As for modern logistics industry, Gangzha district has continued to implement its three-year development plan concentrating on urban distribution, platform economy, and supply chain management. 

It was estimated that the revenue of major logistics business exceeded 8 billion yuan in 2018, a 23 percent year-on-year increase, and ranked first among districts and counties in Nantong. Two logistics platforms based in the district, Hooyo.com.cn and Oasis Logistics, won the honor of provincial demonstration companies for platform economy.

In addition, tourism has been growing rapidly in Gangzha district. In 2018, more than two million tourists visited the district, contributing over 200 million yuan to local tourism revenue, a year-on-year growth of 30 percent. 

Several historical sites in the district's Tangzha ancient town finished reconstruction and opened to the public. Many tourism events, such as the opening ceremony of the 2018 Nantong Jianghai International Tourism Festival and the third chrysanthemum exhibition, were also organized to attract more visitors.
