Xidian University

Xidian University is a national key university focussing on information and electronics, coordinated development of engineering, science, management and literature. It is directly under the Ministry of Education and it is one of the key universities for National “Innovative Platform for Advantageous Subjects Project” and the “211 Project”. One of the National Collaborative Innovation Demonstration Bases, the first batch of 35 national demonstration School of Software, the first batch of nine national demonstration School of Microelectronics, one of the first nine universities to be approved to set up an integrated circuit talent training base and the first batch of first-class network security college construction demonstration project’s universities.

The school currently has two campuses, north and south, with a total area of about 270 hectares. There are approximately 7.36 million volumes of literature in the library, including 2.61 million paper documents and 4.75 million electronic documents. There are more than 1,100 Chinese and foreign papers, and there are 69 kinds of Chinese and foreign digital resources on the platform. There are more than 130 databases, coveringa ll disciplines and majors in the school.

There are more than 30,000 students in the school, including more than 1,700 doctoral students and more than 9,000 master students. There is a graduate school. There are 19 colleges including the School of Communication Engineering, the School of Electronic Engineering and the School of Computer Science. There are more than 1900 full-time teachers, including 330 doctoral tutors and 1088 master tutors. The school has four academicians, 15 double-educated academicians, 30 Changjiang Scholars, one National Natural Science Foundation Innovation Research Group, two Key Innovation Teams of the Ministry of Science and Technology, six Innovation Teams of the Ministry of Education, 14 National Outstanding Youth Fund winners and 11 outstanding youth science fund winners.

Since the founding of the school, the school has sent more than 200,000 senior talents in the field of electronic information to the country, resulting in more than 120 generals of the PLA, growing 19 academicians of the two academies.

Since 1997, our school has established an international cultural exchange center and began recruiting and training international students. Since 2006, the focus of the development of international student education in China has shifted from Chinese language training to professional teaching, from Chinese language teaching to both Chinese and English languages. Up to now, more than 2,000 international students from more than 60 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Kenya have been enrolled to study Chinese and professional courses.
