CPPCC Wuxi Committee sets up fund to support talents

The Taihu Talent Fund of Wuxi, created to support students who are poor and disabled, was set up on Jan 23 during the third session of the 14th Wuxi Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

The first donation of 1.2 million yuan ($178,000) came from the enterprises of CPPCC Wuxi Committee members Zhao Zhenyuan and Zhang Jian, who were rewarded by Wuxi Party Secretary Li Xiaomin for their donations.

Zhao Zhenyuan, chairman of Wuxi Taiji Industry Co Ltd and the Eleventh Science and Technology Core, was named "outstanding leader of the Chinese enterprise revolution". He donated a bonus in full when he was presented with an outstanding contribution to Wuxi city last year.

Education and talents cultivation are the power center for the city's high quality development. The fund, proposed by several CPPCC Wuxi Committee members, is mainly supported by voluntary contributions from the members.

The third session of the 14th Wuxi Municipal Committee of the CPPCC was held from Jan 21 to 24. The CPPCC Wuxi Committee members play an active role in giving advice to the government on city development.
