Zhou Pingjian, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohammed Lai, Minister of Information and Culture of Nigeria, other relevant officials and hundreds of local people participated in the project launching ceremony.

Zhou said in his speech that the project in Nigeria is a vivid reflection of the achievements of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and Belt and Road construction. The project not only opens a window for local people to obtain information about the outside world, but also promotes local economic development. He believes it will lead to further cultural communication between the two sides.

Lai thanked the Chinese government and enterprises for their tremendous efforts in implementing the project. He said that he was glad to see that another outcome of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation has come true and brought real benefits to Nigerians.

The Wan Cun Tong project covers all 36 states and the federal capital district in Nigeria. It will install projection televisions and television sets in public areas of 1,000 villages and provide set-top boxes and other equipment to 20 households in each village, benefiting hundreds of thousands of households throughout the country.
