Yiyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone

Established in 1992, Yiyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone, formerly known as Chaoyang Economic Development Zone, was approved to be a provincial level industrial zone in 2002 and upgraded into a national one under the approval of the State Council in November 2011. Occupying a planning area of 67.07 square kilometers, the zone is composed of two parts: Chaoyang and Eastern Industrial Park.

Sitting in the midwest of Yiyang, Hunan province, the zone is an important part of the Changsha-Yiyang-Changde Economic Corridor and Dongting Lake Economic Circle. With a convenient transportation network, the zone has roads and railways extending in all directions, and a 90-km-highway connecting the zone and Changsha Huanghua International Airport. Yiyang Port, one of the eight major ports in Hunan, is 5 km away from the zone, making it more convenient for ships to go to Shanghai by the Yangtze River.

Over the past few years, the zone has given priority to developing the three cutting-edge industries of cloud computing, smart manufacturing and biotechnology, as well as promoting its five basic industries, covering electronic information, new energy resources, new materials, equipment manufacturing and intensive processing of agricultural products. The zone has additionally sped up the development of modern service industries: e-commerce, medical treatment and health, and cultural tourism. 

Home to more than 300 enterprises and companies, including 139 industrial enterprises above a designated size, the zone has realized total income from technology, industry and trade of 57.37 billion yuan ($8.5 billion) in 2016. The industries above a designated scale yielded a total output value of 32.1 billion yuan. Its high-tech output value totaled 20.7 billion yuan.
