As a cultural industry, tourism is one of the most important supporting forces in Wuxi city's cultural soft power, and plays a significant role in the city's economy.

Wuxi Culture and Tourism Development Group is a leading state-owned enterprise integrating tourism resources and developing all-for-one tourism in the city.

In 2018, the group's tourism revenue totaled over 500 billion yuan ($74 billion), up about 10 percent on the previous year.

The group will continue to form quality tourist areas in Wuxi such as Huishan Ancient Town, which is supposed to be the fourth 5A-level tourist attraction in Wuxi.

A series of cultural and tourism events were held by the group last year, including the first Water Sports Tourism Festival and the Taihu Lake International Sailing Race. More tourism+ events will take place in 2019 to help build a tourism brand in the city.

Wuxi city will also take part in the development of the Grand Canal Cultural Delta to represent the city's regional characteristics and cultural connotations. With a total investment of 2.8 billion yuan, Wuxi Culture and Tourism Development Group won the bid to build a historical site park in Huaian, Jiangsu province in 2018.
