As the distribution well for the Qiandao Lake water project is taking shape, residents of the capital city of Zhejiang, Hangzhou, get one step closer to having their water sourced from the man-made lake in Chun'an county.

Photos taken on Jan 6 revealed the state of the current construction of the huge bowl-shaped well in Xianlin reservoir in Hangzhou's Yuhang district, which will serve as a distribution center and transfer station where water from Qiandao Lake will flow to the urban area and main districts in Hangzhou through tunnels.

Qiandao Lake, located to the west of Hangzhou also serves as a reservoir. With 17.8 billion cubic meters of water storage, it boasts what some say is the best water quality in China.

The project aimed at supplying quality domestic water to Hangzhou city started construction in 2014. In December, the tunnels for the flowing water were completed. According to the plan, it is expected to be put into use in 2019.
