The second session of the 15th Hohhot Municipal People's Congress opened in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Jan 4, with 325 delegates in attendance.

Delegates listened as Feng Yuzhen, mayor of Hohhot, delivered the annual work report of the municipal government, highlighting several significant achievements the government has made.

He stressed the city's economic record, with GDP reaching almost 290 billion yuan ($42.26 billion), up 4 percent year on year.

Throughout last year, Hohhot focused on upgrading and transforming its industries, as well as developing infrastructure and tackling pollution, he said.

Per capita disposable income of urban residents increased 7 percent, with a 9 percent rise for rural residents, he added.

During his presentation of the work report, he also outlined the roadmap for economic and social development in 2019.

The government will continue to try to prevent and reduce financial risks, and push forward with targeted poverty alleviation and pollution control efforts, he promised.
