Taobao Town E-Commerce Industrial Park (Hangzhou, China), a virtual platform for online retailers, opened in Zhejiang Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City (Haichuang Park), Yuhang district of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Dec 25.

The platform, which occupies less than one square meter of physical space, is designed to provide a wide range of services for online merchants across the country, including registering e-business licenses, declaring policies, online training, making innovation awards and guiding funds.

An online clothing store in Yuhang district of Hangzhou received the first e-business license on the platform. "It only took around ten minutes to get the e-license, which is quite convenient," said the store owner.

At present, only self-employed Taobao businesses can settle in the park, said an official from Zhejiang Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City, adding that more service agencies will be introduced in the future to provide high-quality services for the settled businesses.

Home to Taobao City, the headquarters of Alibaba's online shopping arm Taobao, Yuhang district has been endeavoring to create a sound business environment for e-commerce industry over the years. From January to September, the online retail sales of the district reached 50.65 billion yuan ($7.36 billion), a year-on-year increase of 25.57 percent.
