Local residents in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, have enjoyed great convenience from the city's simplified administrative procedures and digitalized government services since the city initiated the "At Most One Visit" reform in 2017.

The reform, aiming to cut down on red tape for businesses and provide better services for the public, allows locals to have easy access to a wide range of affairs including household registration businesses, social insurance and other business related to their living needs on mobile apps as well as self-service machines at related departments.

Now, the improved level of its public services has led to uplift in satisfaction rates and wellbeing among its people.

Hangzhou is a city with highly efficient and easy-to-go administrative services, according to a local resident, adding that they only need to visit one counter instead of shuffling between counters.

Hangzhou government has provided us with a sound entrepreneurial environment by taking our practical needs into consideration, and we are confident about our ambitions to make the company bigger and stronger in Hangzhou, said a staff member from an international logistic company based in the city.

"I used to line up in a long queue at the counter, but now all I need to do is to swipe my finger and press the mouse," she said.

To date, a total of 638 self-service machines are available at all relevant departments in the city and the amount of total users of the app has reached 4.67 million, a big step for Hangzhou towards the digital transformation of government functions.
