Set up in 1992, Xuzhou Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone was approved to become a national hi-tech industrial development zone by the State Council in August 2012, being the first of its kind in northern Jiangsu province.
Xuzhou national high-tech industrial development zone is located in the south of Xuzhou, in the Yangtze River Delta economic zone and the north of the Bohai Economic Circle. The total planning area is 180 square kilometers. It has 350,000 residents, 60,000 industrial workers and 20,000 highly educated talents. It is the State advanced manufacturing base, the technological innovation highland of northern Jiangsu and the main urban area of Xuzhou.
By the middle of 2017, a total of over 2,000 companies had settled in the zone, including 387 companies above designated scale. The zone has formed a modern industrial system featuring safety technology, intelligent equipment and electronic information. Efforts have also been devoted to developing new materials, new pharmaceuticals and manufacturing of automobile and core accessories.
