Xibaipo Scenic Spot, Shijiazhuang
(石家庄市西柏坡景区 shí jiā zhuāng shì xī bǎi pō jǐng qū)
Xibaipo Scenic Spot, having red tourism as its theme, is located in Pingshan county, Hebei province. It is about 90 kilometers away from the province’s capital – Shijiazhuang.
Xibaipo plays an important role for the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. In 1947 and 1948, revolutionists of the Chinese Communist Party including Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Mao Zedong, Zhou En’lai and Ren Bishi came to Xibaipo one after another, making the place at that time a leading center for the Party. In March 1949, the Party central committee led by Chairman Mao left Xibaipo to Beijing for the preparations of new China.
In 1978, the former site of the Party central committee in Xipaipo and Xibaipo Memorial Museum was opened to the public. The scenic spot covers 39,000 square meters. Other highlights for the scenic spot include memorial sculptures, monuments and a stone carving garden.
In addition, the scenic spots has beautiful natural scenery, featuring cypresses and lakes.
