Baiyangdian Lake, Baoding
(保定市安新白洋淀景区 bǎo dìng shì ān xīn bái yáng diàn jǐng qū)
Baiyangdian Lake with its main body located in An’xin county, Baoding, Hebei province is the province’s largest lake. “Dian” in Chinese means a shallow lake. The part in An’xin county has developed into a scenic spot.
The lake was put on the map as a scenic spot when in April 1 2017, the Xiong’an New Area was established by merging the counties of Xiongxian, An’xin and Rongcheng.
The scenic spot is renowned for its abundant resources and beautiful scenery, winning it the reputation of “North China’s land of plenty”. There are also many islets dotted in the lake which can only be reached by boat.
The lotus flowers scenery is a highlight of the scenic spot. Hundreds of varieties of lotus flowers are planted in the lake, the largest number in any location in China.
