Covering 29.6 square kilometers, Ningbo Economic and Technological Development Zone (NETDZ ) was established in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, in 1984 as one of the first batch of national development zones approved by the State Council.

Ningbo is the economic center of Zhejiang province. Freighters from the port city can sail to more than 600 international ports in over 100 countries and regions around the globe.

Backed by Beilun Port, one of the most important ports in Ningbo, NETDZ is considered an important part of the shipping center in northeastern Asia, as well as a major manufacturing base in eastern China.

It has benefited greatly from the regional advantages endowed by the Yangzte River Delta, the most economically and socially advanced area in China. NETDZ offers foreign businesses a free gate to enter China’s investment market.

The zone has attracted many foreign enterprises from nearly 40 countries and regions, including Exxon-Mobil Corporation, Samsonite, DOW Chemical and Dupont. With the rapid development of various local industries, such as the mechanical equipment manufacturing, photoelectrics, automobile manufacturing and modern services, a relatively integrated modern industrial system has been built in NETDZ.

By the end of 2011, the GDP of the development zone reached 64.6 billion yuan ($9.31 billion). The general budget revenue amounted to 13.2 billion yuan. NETDZ also generated an industrial output of 189.92 billion yuan and attracted foreign investment of more than $841 million.
