Zhoushan's agricultural and fishery products proved to be the bestsellers at the 2018 Zhejiang Agricultural Fair from Nov 23 to 27, with 61 of the city's food companies achieving 13.05 million yuan ($1.88 million) of sales during the fair.

Of the sales revenue, 6.85 million yuan was from field sales and the other 6.2 million yuan was from purchase orders.

As usual, seafood was the biggest highlight of the city's products, among which a 50-kilogram tuna from the waters of Kiribati, a country in the Pacific Ocean, grabbed visitors' attention.

It was sent to the fair by air, and took three days to arrive there.

Many visitors gave their thumbs up to its unique flavor after having a taste of the fish.

Lin Dewei, vice secretary of the city government, introduced the fishery sector of the city at the fair, saying that "Zhoushan is currently the nation's biggest pelagic fishery base, with fish output accounting for 90 percent and 25 percent of the province's total and the nation's total, respectively."

In addition, some of the new local produce was shown at the fair, including the special local salt, rice and fungus.

The city also won four gold awards and six "Best Quality" awards for several local specialties, such as the fish fillet, organic black tea and farmed shrimp.

The Zhejiang Agricultural Fair, initiated in 2010, is held annually in Hangzhou, capital of the province, and this year saw more than 13,000 kinds of agricultural and fishery products displayed to show the agricultural achievements made by the province over the 40 years since China's reform and opening up.
