PNG international convention center built by China hosts APEC

The Port Moresby International Convention Center, an engineering project by China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach), was the venue of the 30th ministerial conference of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), held on Nov 15.

The international center, the first large meeting center in Papua New Guinea (PNG), covers an area of 9,920 sq m. It was constructed by China IPPR International Engineering Company, a subsidiary of Sinomach, and has hosted many international conferences since its completion in 2015.
PNG's government invited China to improve the center when it decided to sponsor APEC 2018. The upgrading project started in December 2017 and was also carried out by the subsidiary of Sinomach.

In just four months the upgrading project was finished. More rooms were added, including a multifunctional hall, press center and dining hall.
The newly upgraded facility has won recognition and praise from PNG's government and the APEC 2018 organizing committee.
