A total of 174 Yangzhou companies participated in the 124th China Import and Export Fair from Oct 15 to Nov 4 in Guangzhou, receiving intended purchase orders of over $209 million, according to a press conference held by the Yangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce on Nov 14.

Known as the Canton Fair, China Import and Export Fair was established in 1957 to provide a platform for Chinese enterprises to explore the international markets.

Yangzhou companies set up 262 booths in the fair, being showcased in three phases. The first phase was Oct 15 to 19, the second was Oct 23 to 27, while the third was Oct 31 to Nov 14.  The phases exhibited companies from different fields such as large-scale machinery, handicrafts and tourism products.

The number of deals signed with purchasers from countries along the Belt and Road such as Russia and Association of Southeast Asian Nations increased significantly compared to previous years, accounting for half of the total deals.

Che Guohua, deputy director of the Yangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, said this year's intended purchase orders slightly increased compared with last year with orders from the first phase being the highest, reaching $90 million.
