The launching ceremony for an alliance of port service platforms alongside the Yangtze River Economic Delta was held in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province on Nov 8, 2018.
The alliance was formed by a total of 12 ports along the Yangtze River, namely in Zhangjiagang, Taicang, Changshu, Nantong, Jiangyin, Zhenjiang, Nanjing, Ma’anshan, Yueyang, Wuhan, Chongqing, and Luzhou.
With a goal of promoting the interconnecting and information sharing among these ports, the alliance is expected to push forward the integrated development of ports alongside the Yangtze River.
As 2018 marked the 50th anniversary of the founding of Zhangjiagang Port, an additional development seminar was held on the same day on turning the port into a smart one.
The port has been gradually changing its extensive development pattern into a high-quality one. It owns 26 port companies and 135 berths, ranking first among county-level ports in the country in terms of its cargo throughput for consecutive years.
As the initiator of the alliance, Zhangjiagang Port is planning on taking full advantage of its local resources and to enhance the connection and cooperation with other port cities in the Yangtze River Economic Delta.
