The third Dongsheng Golden Wedding Ceremony was held in Dongsheng district, Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Oct 18.
The ceremony saw 53 couples celebrate their 50th wedding anniversaries.
Chen Xiuying said that this wedding ceremony made up for her regret at not being able have an official wedding ceremony 50 years ago.
“I feel so lucky to catch up in this great era,” she said, with her husband Guo Yongyi standing nearby.
The couple recalled their hardships 50 years ago.
“Our wedding ceremony then was very simple,” Guo said. “The wedding dinner was just normal homely food.
“We have four children, and I asked them to follow the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation and not to pursue creature comforts.”
