The Hongjiang Orange, grown at the Guangdong Hongjiang Farm, took gold at the 16th China International Agricultural Trade Fair (CATF) in Changsha, capital city of central China's Hunan province.

The orange, independently cultivated by the farm in the 1970s, has a thin peel, juicy pulp, and a sweet, slightly sour taste. It was the runner-up for The State Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 1987.

The Hongjiang Orange was registered as a trademark in October 1986 after being approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and was selected as a Guangdong Famous Trademark in 1992.

This year's CATF was co-hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. More than 4,000 enterprises participated, exhibiting more than 16,000 different products.
