The 160-million-yuan ($23-million) North City Park in Lianjiang, a county-level city in Zhanjiang, is expected to open by the end of the year, with its signature "Gate of the Future" already being tested.

Located north of Lianjiang Avenue, the 530-mu (35-hectare) park is comprised of a 27,000-square-meter square, a lake, and landscaping areas. It has 1,600 cherry trees, and will be strewn with flowers, lawns, and a pleasant fragrance during spring.

Upon completion, the park will be connected to the Tangshan Hill Ecological Park and greenways, and will be an ideal place for walking and hiking.
