The 11th Cross-Straits (Xiamen) Cultural Industries Fair is being held Nov 1 to 5 in Xiamen, with Pingtan having their own pavilion, showcasing cultural elements from the island.

Pingtan pavilion, covering an area of 225 square meters, has applied blue and white as its main colors and integrated marine and sports elements such as shells, waves and sailboats.

Exhibits such as shell carvings, paper cuttings and cultural relics that have been unearthed from Pingtan's waters are on display in the pavilion, representing its long-standing history and strong cultural creative environment.

"We would like to tell people that apart from the splendid seaside scenery, Pingtan also has a lot of unique cultural creative industries and a strong sense of history. We hope participating in this fair can elevate our cultural identity," said Zhan Lixin, an expert in folk arts from Pingtan.

Wang Lingyue, an official from the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone bureau of social affairs, said that through exhibitions on cultural promotion, Pingtan will keep developing its cultural industries and attract more people to visit the city.
