Five major projects to adjust the layout of Wuxi municipal medical and health institutions were launched on Oct 29.

Sites targeted by the project include the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangnan University, Wuxi Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital, Wuxi Children's Hospital, Wuxi Emergency Center and the second phase of the inpatient building at Wuxi Mental Health Center.

Decided by the city government in June, the project is of great significance to further rationalize the allocation of municipal medical and health resources and speed up the construction of a health service system that can meet the requirements of Wuxi's high-quality development.

According to the plan, the city will speed up construction of south part and the specialized building for severe burns and trauma of the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangnan University, and put them into use by November in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

The construction project for two main buildings at Wuxi Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital will be completed by the end of 2019. Wuxi No 3 Hospital will be partly renovated and relocated by June, 2020. Wuxi Children's Hospital will also be relocated and put into use in 2021. The renovation and expansion project of the second phase of the inpatient building at Wuxi Mental Health Center, will be completed by the end of 2020. A new site for Wuxi Emergency Center will be constructed and put into use in 2020.
