A list of the country's top 100 outstanding private entrepreneurs over the past four decades of reform and opening-up was released by the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce in Beijing on Oct 24.
The list aims to promote the huge achievements and great contribution that the private economy has made over the 40 years since the start of reform and opening-up.
The development of the private economy shows the success of reform and opening-up. The private economy has played a key role in China's development and economic growth over the past 40 years, as private enterprises contribute to more than 50 percent of the tax revenue nationwide, more than 60 percent of the GDP, more than 70 percent of the innovation, more than 80 percent of the urban employment and more than 90 percent new employment.
The list shows the central authority's recognition of the private economy. President Xi Jinping has reiterated recently that we will resolutely support the development of private economy, and many central level departments have taken measures to support private enterprises.
