Horinger New Area to develop smart technology

The Beijing forum on smart industry in Horinger New Area of Inner Mongolia was held in Beijing on Oct 26.

Jointly sponsored by the Management Committee of Horinger New Area and Hohhot Municipal Government, the forum attracted over 150 attendees including leaders from related ministries, industry experts and representatives of leading companies in the smart technology industry.

The plan for the industrial development of Horinger New Area was introduced for the first time at the forum. In accordance with the plan, Horinger will actively develop large data centers, foster strategic emerging industries, develop green ecological industries, accelerate the development of health and leisure industries, optimize and upgrade traditional industries, and vigorously develop productive service industries.

"Horinger New Area will transform traditional industries by focusing on expanding the scale of emerging industries, high-end industries, high value-added industries," said Xu Yanguo, head of the economic operation group in the area.

Horinger New Area will combine farming and stock breeding with protection of the regional ecological environment.

Furthermore, professional education related to big data, BIM, art, and design will be developed through cooperation with educational institutions and universities to cultivate more talented people in developing Horinger.

Concerning Hohhot's advantages in fields of health care, biomedical technology and cultural tourism, the health industry in the new area will also start to be developed.

The planned construction area of the Horinger New Area is 496 square kilometers. In the future, industrial clusters of green food, power and energy, photovoltaic materials, big data, cloud computing and other competitive industries will be established there. By 2035, the population of the new area will reach 920,000.
