It is the first time that Guangzhou province, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR have cooperated to build such a mega sea-crossing transportation project.

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is known as one of seven wonders of the modern world. It consists of bridges, tunnels and artificial islands. The bridge cost over 100 billion yuan ($14.39 billion) and should last for at least 120 years. It can resist even super typhoons.

It is the longest, most costly and difficult sea-crossing bridge project in China's construction history and it is the world's longest cross-sea bridge. Its immersed tube tunnel is also the world's longest.
