A delegation of 10 teachers and students from Sacred Hearts Academy, a private and all-girls' school in Honolulu, the capital of the state of Hawaii, the United States, visited Pingtan Experimental Primary School on Oct 15.

The delegation was led by Gordon Trimble and his wife. Trimble's great-grand aunt Lydia Trimble founded the predecessor of Pingtan Experimental Primary School in 1908.

"My great-grand aunt founded this school over a hundred years ago. Now I come here to remember the past and to look forward to a better future," said Trimble.

Trimble said he has visited the school several times and every time he came here he could see changes.

The delegation was shown around the school, visiting places such as the playground, the calligraphy room and the room for the student orchestra.

Eden Arthur, a student from Sacred Hearts Academy, experienced calligraphy writing. She said she really admire these students in Pingtan for they can write well.

In order to carry out more exchanges in education with each other, the two schools decided to become sister schools.

"We have declared our intention to cooperate in different aspects of education. We hope more international cooperation in education can be carried out on the back of this," said Chen Jingwen, secretary of Pingtan Experimental Primary School's general Party branch.
