The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, China's cabinet, recently released a plan on establishing a national comprehensive firefighting team.
The plan aims to improve the country's emergency management as well as disaster prevention, disaster reduction and disaster relief capacities. The aim is to establish a standard and professional firefighting team and a unified, and an efficient and effective national emergency system. This is of great significance to safeguarding people's livelihoods and guaranteeing the country's long-term peace and stability.
The plan promotes transformation of the country's fire forces and armed forestry police and the building of a national comprehensive firefighting team. It also sets out the main tasks for building a national firefighting rescue team, including establishing a unified and highly efficient leadership system, special professional ranking system, standard recruitment and withdrawal mechanism and safeguard mechanism.
It is expected that the construction of a national firefighting team and a sound policy system of relevant laws and regulations will be in place after a three-year trial practice.
