As autumn reaches its peak in mid-October, all the leaves in Harbin turn red or yellow, adding vibrant autumnal colors to the city. This is the best time to catch a breathtaking glimpse of Harbin's transition to the new scenery.

Several self-driving travel routes to appreciate autumn leaves in Harbin’s natural scenic areas have been recommended below.

No 1  Jinlong Mountain Scenic Area

Around 48 kilometers southeast from Harbin, Jinlong Mountain Scenic Area comprises of Jinlong Mountain, Songfeng Mountai, Diaoshuihu and Hukai Mountain. Among which, the red leaves valley in Jinlong Mountain has the highest popularity for appreciating autumn leaves.

Jinlong Red Leaves Valley is reputed as one of China’s top 10 climate landscapes, a colorful fairyland and an ideal destination for a seasonal excursion. It is also designated as the red leaves landscape shooting base for Chinese TV programs.

Trees planted in the valley are mainly maple trees. The whole valley turns red with the coming of autumn. Among which, leaves of miscellaneous trees add the colors of yellow, purple, green and brown to the landscape.

Climbing up to the Xianglong Pavilion and Yufeng Pavilion, tourists can get a panoramic view of the breathtaking red leaves landscape in the valley.
