A Romanian delegation led by Daniela Cimpean, the Governor of Sibiu, Romania visited the Yangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) on Oct 11.

Enjoying a long-standing history of TCM, Yangzhou has cultivated many experts in the field since the Han Dynasty (202 BC-AD 220).

Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun (Treatise on Causes and Symptoms of Diseases), the first treatise discussing the etiology of TCM in China, was completed in Yangzhou in the Sui Dynasty.

The delegation was shown around the hospital, including an exhibition hall themed on TCM culture and a TCM pharmacy. Some of them also experienced traditional therapy such as tuina, a form of therapeutic massage and moxibustion, the burning of moxa.

A memorandum of cooperation was also signed by the Yangzhou Hospital of TCM and the TCM center in Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu to carry out cultural and academic exchanges and build a TCM museum in Sibiu.

Huang Weimin, director of the Yangzhou Health and Family Planning Commission, said he believed the memorandum will definitely contribute to the development of TCM in Romania and further communication and cooperation between China and Romania in the health industry.
