"I have a Chinese Dream, of establishing a strong supply chain in the aviation industry in China, of which Boeing's aircraft project in Zhoushan is an important part," said Ian Chang, vice president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, who is in charge of its operations and business development in China.
Chang made the remarks at a seminar in Zhoushan on the city's international aviation industry development on Oct 10.
As recently estimated by Boeing, one of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers, the market size of China's aviation industry will grow to be worth 2.7 trillion dollars in the next two decades.
The Boeing 737 Completion and Delivery Center Project, having been conducted in Zhoushan for one year, will realize an annual delivery of 100 aircrafts when its full production capacity is achieved.
"This is an opportunity for Zhoushan," said Chang, "as the city's free trade zone, deep-water harbors and open ports facilitate the supply of parts, bunker fuel and maintenance services for the delivery of our aircrafts."
"What Zhoushan needs to do is communicate more effectively with suppliers and better develop its full industrial chain," added Chang.
The seminar also saw representatives from other well-known airline companies as well as from universities and scientific research institutes, who shared their insights on developing Zhoushan into an international aviation city.
Xiao Yun from Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China emphasized the importance of talents to the aviation industry, hoping "Zhoushan will provide preferential policies for aviation talents as they have done for marine talents."
Chen Yang, in charge of planning and consultancy at the China Aviation Planning and Design Institute, extended a wish that Zhoushan would leverage its advantages in the environment, tourism, industries and policies to realize the city's overall development.
