An online platform for urban and rural planning block data in Guiyang started its pilot run recently and will accept technical feedback and be put into operation by the end of December.

The platform adopts a 3D geographic information system (GIS), building information modeling (BIM) technology and virtual simulation technology to provide a 3D stereogram of a 2 kilometer-area centered on Jiaxiu Tower, the symbol of Guiyang.

The 3D stereogram allows users to check detailed information relating to medical institutions, schools, public places, business buildings and land planning.

With big data and internet of things technologies, the platform provides full-spectrum data of multiple dimensions and multiplex modes, which makes the spatial strategy analyses of both macro region and micro urban communities possible.

According to Dai Yi, director of the Guiyang Geographic Information Data Center, the platform uses comprehensive data to improve planning precision.

The Guiyang Urban Rural Planning Bureau is cooperating with Guizhou-Cloud Big Data to integrate individual data into block data, including spatial geographic information, urban and rural planning management data and plans to use the platform to share data between departments.

To fully utilize the block data, the bureau is building analysis models and applications based on demand for urban space and realizing the application of multi-planning.

The platform allows different government departments to update planning data in the system and can provide image and text information of a project with overlapping map layers.

Meanwhile, the departments can examine whether the project meets different planning requirements and generate reports, improving communication efficiency among different departments.
