Alliance of Innovative Ecological Conservation and Sustainable Development in Yangtze River Economical Belt was inaugurated in Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang province on Oct 8.
Zhejiang University, one of the most distinguished universities in the southern province, together with other 19 universities and research institutes in the Yangtze River Economical Belt, voluntarily forged the alliance to promote the academic study of ecological civilization construction in Yangzte River Economical Belt.
The non-profitable academic unity will exert its exemplary role in greening the region by working on building cooperative mechanisms for the sharing of talents, information and data, and scientific research platforms.
It will also discuss a series of topics that might arises during the course, including the innovative technologies, management system and operational mechanism under the guidance of the National Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
Peng Jiaxue, vice governor of Zhejiang province, stressed that the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt must align with the idea of green and sustainable development and prioritize the long-term interests of the people. He called on the alliance to jointly tackle the problems encountered during the process of ecological restoration and environmental protection of the region.
“The Yangzte River Economic Belt shoulders great responsibility in blazing the trail of ecological development in China. People should actively get involved in the course and jointly build a demonstration platform on the basis of the alliance,” said Wu Zhaohui, principal of Zhejiang University.
