People took nearly 1.74 million trips to Harbin for tourism during the National Day holiday, a year-on-year increase of 42.7 percent, according to information from the Harbin tourism committee.

During the seven-day holiday from Oct 1 to 7, revenue generated reached nearly 2.05 billion yuan ($294.7 million), a year-on-year increase of 24.7 percent.

To cope with the demands of tourists appreciating autumn scenery, Harbin launched 23 autumn tourism routes, covering the typical natural scenic areas and historic sites.

Harbin's scenic spots, including Jinlong Mountain National Forest Park, Maoer Mountain Forest Park, Fenghuang Mountain National Forest Park, Yabuli scenic spot and Jiguan Mountain, as well as the landmark of Harbin — Harbin Central Avenue and Harbin Chinese-Baroque Historic Block, proved the most popular choices for travelers over the holiday period.

Tourists from Jilin, Liaoning, Shandong, Hebei provinces and Beijing formed the majority of the visitors to Harbin.

Due to advance preparation by the Harbin Tourism Committee and the Harbin Tourism Quality Supervision Institute, there were no major travel safety accidents in Harbin and no tourist complaints during the holiday.
