National beach volleyball event excites Yangzhou locals

The four-day National Beach Volleyball Grand Slam 2018 Yangzhou Station concluded on Oct 9 in Guangling district, Yangzhou, after gathering 32 volleyball teams from all over China.

"It's really good news for us sports fans to have a new competition to watch right after the closing of the 19th Sports Games of Jiangsu held in Yangzhou," said Zhou Kangyong, a local resident whose whole family enjoys sports.

"We used to watch sports games on television yet only watching games on the scene can give us real excitement," added Zhou.

The main venue, equipped with professional auxiliary facilities including lights and LED display screens, can hold a crowd of 2,500.

Horizontal beaches for the competitions were built according to international standards, with sands being carefully filtrated and the sand depth reaching over 40 centimeters.

Zhang Zhenxi, chief coach of the Xinjiang Beach Volleyball Team, highly praised the venue in terms of the environment and facilities as being one of the leading venues in China.

"The excellent environment of the venue contributes a lot to our performance during the competition," said Wang Jingzhe, a member of the Xinjiang Beach Volleyball Team.
